Making the trousers

So i have created my trousers and i am really pleased with how they look, i need to make a few alteration, like taking the darts out of the front and the back and putting them in the sides, i also need to add a waist band to the top to keep it all under control and and add a piece of chiffon under the sheers to keep that in place better as well, at its a little all over the place at the moment, but in general i am pleased with the outcome and look of the trousers. I have made the t-shirt but that needs to be made longer as it is very short and also make the head hole so you can get your head through it, i also need to decide if i wanna leave the t-shirt plain or add chiffon to the top as well.

Sampling

I did a couple of samples for the panels of my trousers to see which i like the best, i have decided to go with the sheared version as it is most effective and relative to my work, i also have done shearing in most my projects and really like the effect it gives off. I think the shearing works really well for this project and as it fits perfectly with my coral theme.

Week 3

This week i focused on getting my 2 final looks drawn up and completed, i carried on draping and working on the stand to get different shapes and inspiration. I find draping on the stand so helpful, as i’m not a strong drawer, and struggle to get my designs down on paper so i find this really helps getting my ideas from my head out. Now i have my two designs i want to do i can now concentrate on drawing my patterns and getting my toils made.

Making a corset

This week i attended a class on how to make a pattern for a corset, the process is quiet slow and takes quiet a lot of time and patience, but i would really like to make a corset for one of my garments, so would like to apply this technique to my practice, but i need to make sure i allow enough time to be able to achieve this well. I think it looks really effective and shows off your technical skills.

Briefing Day

Today we got given our brief then we spoke about our research and concept for this project and what our ideas were. We then went down to the print studio where we played with dying tips of fabrics and giving the fabric a permanent crease, i really enjoyed this and think it could be something i would use in my garments as i can see it reflecting back to work well.

Behind The Barcode – Week 5

Business Presentation

In my final week, i finished off my logo and finished off the design of my business card and poster. I am pleased with the outcome of my business and think that i have a really strong concept, i would of perhaps liked to of had a bit more time so i could of experimented with melted plastic and made some proto types of the earrings and what they would of looked like. I defiantly think there is a gap in the market for this product and would be a successful business if i wanted to take it further.

Behind The Barcode – Week 3

This week we had a guest talk about business cards and marketing products, this was really useful as i saw many different examples of business cards and what we think will suit our business and what different things you can do with them.

In my presentation the feedback was very positive, they thought my idea was strong, they had a couple of things that i should change, such as not just focusing on earrings, make it a wider range such as broaches, and to make do smaller pieces of jewelry so that i can have males as my target market as well.

Behide The Barcode – Week 3

This week i decided to change the name of my brand from ‘ReWear’ to ‘Leona Designs’ i thought the name ‘ReWear’ suited my original idea of re worked clothing, so i decided just to call my brand ‘Leona Designs’ after doing some research on other brands. We also had two guest talks this way, talking to us about brand logos and making sure we know where to find the correct fonts and to make sure we know were using the right brand for our ideas.

Behind The Barcode – Week Two

Week two we have learnt about our target costumer and potential market, we looked into the difference of wanting something and needing something, i found this very useful as to knowing where my brands product would stand. We also looked at MASLOW’S HIERARCHY OF NEEDS (1943) , which was another really helpful thing to help with where my product will fit in.

We also looked into what makes a good company and what factors you need to make it successful, such as what your passion and drive to make your business successful, and what the key elements are, Also learnt how we need to have a strong story to sell the product as people will buy into the story.
