Field – Getting to know each other!

Today was the first day of our next project (field), this project consists of working in groups with people from different areas of our University. In this project we are working with textiles and product design. Today has mostly been focused on getting to know one another, and showing each other around our areas that we work in and what we can create. We also have looked into our brief and started to get to know who will work best in what areas, Also everyone’s personality. I feel as if today has been really positive and informative. I now feel confident with what i have to do and will continue my further research into out chosen brand which is Moncler, and have a look at their first collection and to wear they have come now. My group has decided to go with women’s wear. Moncler are a very winter based company, so designing something that is spring/summer will be challenging but also easy as its something there not known for. Tomorrow we will be going into more depth with where we will take out collection and what area we would like to focus on and start discussing ideas.

PHOTO SHOOT!

Here are a couple of photos of my final dress. I was really pleased with how my dress photographed and really pleased with how it fit on the model. I am very pleased with my overall outcome of my dress, i may have tried taking photos on a black backdrop to see which made the dress stand out more.

FINAL DRESS DESIGN!

For my final dress design i am going to do a one shoulder, body con mini dress made out of boiled wool. Then over the top will be chiffon with my own pattern i have designed sheered then placed over the back of one shoulder coming round the front around the bodice. For the bottom half i will have it dropping floor length with the design carrying on to about 1/4 of the way then fading out to nothing.

MAKING LACE!

thumbnail_IMG_3158Here i learnt how to make lace, i did a fish so it would fit in with my theme. because of my design was so delicate i have to put a piece of fabric around the outside to give it a bit more support. To get this outcome, i traced a drawing i liked, then i sewed around the tracing, once this was complete i put this in the water, to let the dissoluble paper dissolve. I really like this but next time i would choose a stronger design, so it wasn’t too delicate.
