Pressing flowers in PVC

With the flowers I pressed on the calico, I decided to press them between pvc to see the effect I would get, I do really like this effect I think it is really intresting and fits my theme really well, the only thing I would say is that I didnt let the flowers dry out probably and also didnt have the equiment to do that, so when I pressed them they caused abit of condinsation and the flowers have started to go mouldy and smell, so I looked int using fake flowers as they would stay perfect forever, and I got the same effect. So if I am to use this proccess I will use fake flowers.

Flower pressing

Because I want to bring flowers into my collection to show blossoming into a person, I looked into flower pressing, to get the results I got I taped the flowers down onto calico, then I simply hammered the naterual flower ink through, this gave a strong result and I was really pleased with it, but I dont think it was what I was looking for in my work, but was definetly pleased with the outcomes.

My next project!

Women Don't Owe You Pretty: The debut book from Florence Given: Amazon.co.uk: Given, Florence: 9781788402118: Books
7 Best chessie king images in 2020 | king, high waist fashion, casual weekend style

My project for my final year is going to be based of these two books I decided to read while in lockdown, I found lockdown a challenging time, being so unactive resulting in me feeling rubbish about myself. I personally have always struggled to love myself for who I am, but after reading these books it has completely changed my views on myself, and how everyone should look at themselves. I wanted to base my next project on these books as they gave me so much insporation, I also think body positivity is so important at the moment.

My first issue I came across was my working drawings, i really struggled to get the movement and texture of the sheering in my work, but after a view video calls with Jorgie I soon had it resolved, there is defnietly more room for improvment and if I had more time I would explore that. The second issue I had was getting my moodboard and design development board to look good and making sure they had the right content on them and was saying the right thing, but after playing around lots and lots of time shrinking and enlarging images, removing and adding I finally got there. I have learnt a lot on this project about myself, and I want to take all the skills I have and bring them into level 6 and explore even more.

Shoot Day!!!!!

DSC_0045DSC_0055DSC_0194DSC_0203DSC_0218DSC_0250With the on going situation and having to do socially distancing, I had to model my garments myself which wasnt the ideal situation but I did my best. Ideally I would of prefered to shoot this garment on the beach, but because I was modeling I didnt feel comfortable doing that and the beaches were quiet busy. another problem I discovered where I took the photos it was really windy so found it quiet difficult to control my hair, so a lot of it was good timing, next time I would do a hair up look to make it easier. Overall I am really pleased with how the images came out and how I captured my garment.

Making the jacket

I have put together the bodice part of the jacket, I found it difficult to get the top edges symmetrical, and it took a couple of goes hence the pins in picture one. Also found the lining quiet difficult to bag out, but now I have sorted that out I am very pleased with how it is coming along, and I love the colours together.

Completing my range plan

Screenshot 2020-05-21 at 22.29.55Screenshot 2020-05-21 at 22.31.04I looked back at my range plan and after doing my working drawings I realised I was missing the movement and volume and looking at it again realised it needed it. So I have gone back in and added movement and volume. The range plan looks a lot more professional and clean, I am pleased with how my range plan looks.

Toiles

I finished off my second look toil, and tried it on to see what it all looks like together, I am so pleased with it, it looks amazing, I think if I was making it in the actual fabric i would sheer both sides of the shorts, but they I do like the quirky side of only one side being sheered, I think the look is so smart and could be worn for differnt events. I also tried the jacket and the trousers on with the top from the other look to see how it all looked together and again I am really pleased with it, looks really smart and the looks could be mixed and matched with each other, I am very pleased with both my looks. Now to make them in the actual fabric.
