First Look Complete !

Pushing my ideas from the draping on the stand, I have completed my first look! the frills on the skirt were a last minuet idea that just came to my head, and I have brought some fringing to play around with, and just randomly added it to the frills and really liked the textiles it had created, I am overall really really pleased with my final outcome and think it really shows who I am as a designer.

After my talk with my teacher I went back to how I work best, I made a simple under dress, and sheered a piece of chiffon and just started to drape on the stand to create shapes that I liked until I got the perfect Idea, the first and the last imagine I fell in love with and wanted to push those ideas for my final two looks.

Toile One

This is the first look I have created, I wanted to using sheering but minimalistic way, and I think I have achieved that, by adding it as part of the sleeve and nowhere else. After speaking to my teacher, I have decided this isnt a very strong piece of work and isnt really my design astheic easier, I have gone away from who I am as a designer which is big beautiful dresses, so I am going to take everything we spoke about on board and re think my design ideas.

Another week down!

This week I have been working on my working drawings of the toil’s I have made, and putting together my toil development pages. I am really pleased with the outcome of my working drawings and I am really pleased with how much I have progressed in my working drawings, I have worked so hard to get where I am with my digital. This week I want to focus on my pratical work and with exploring my sheering techinques, also want to develop my drawing techiques and find my signature.

This Week

Due to testing postive for covid I havnt been able to achieve as much as I would like, but I have used this time to work on my digital skills, using the workshops we have with Jorgie. I have come so far with my digital and it is all down to the workshops and practcing inbetween. I have also cut out the pattern for the top and trousers for my second look which I will sew together next week. Unfortuantly it hasnt been a very sucsessful week due to not being very well, but hopefully next week we will achieve more as starting to feel better.

What I did this week

This week we did a digtial workshop with Jorgie to refresh our mind with illistrator and show us how to add detail and movement into the garment, this was super super helpful and I learnt so much from this workshop. I also made my simple dress which is going to be the base of my garment and I am going to do my textiles all over it, I started to drape around my basic dress with another piece of calico, and this process is defiently the one for me, I can create the thoughts in my head more acuratly. My next steps are to make a basic top and trousers as they will be the base of the second look, to push my textiles more, and to work on my digital pages.

Sketches

I have started to do some sketches in my book of designs I have thought off, but I really struggle to draw, and get my ideas down on paper to how I actually want them to be, so although I do like these designs there not really the ideas I have in my head.

Playing on the stand

With differnt materials I have picked up I started draping on the stand and looking at how the materials fall, I also sheered a little bit of each fabric I collected to see how they looked when sheered, as I was doing that I thought I would put them all together and add some flowers to see how it looked and it gave a really intresting texture and was very pleased with the outcome. I defiently got some intresting shapes on the stand and am very pleased with where this is taking me.
